I have said for years that people should have to pass some simple ethical test if they want to procreate. While I do not fully believe that, it seems like a day doesn’t go by where a parent proves totally unfit to have a child. Following is one such case.

A man abandoned his baby girl on the street in Spring Garden, Pennsylvania after being stopped by an officer for allegedly shoplifting. This according the the York Dispatch. Nice guy, right?

Reginald D. Wilson will be charged with a felony once police catch him.

The 24-year-old will be charged with escape, endangering the welfare of a child and retail theft. Wilson also is wanted on a state parole violation.

He left his 11-month-old daughter inside her stroller while fleeing...

Didn't See Baby

The officer, who had been questioning Wilson, gave chase because he didn't realize there was a baby in the stroller. According to police, it's not uncommon for shoplifters to use empty baby strollers when stealing from stores.

Employees at a nearby business saw what happened and immediately took the baby inside. She was later safely returned to her mother.

Wilson allegedly shoplifted numerous baby items from Dollar General by hiding them in the stroller.

It's appalling that somebody would abandon their baby. It clearly makes you wonder: Is he capable of raising this child? This is a story about much more than shoplifting. There is a criminal element here that has little regard for anyone, including their own infants.
