Just how does one steal 27 military assault rifles – from the cotton-pickin’ military? Not only did they steal directly out of the military base, but the rifles are some of the most high-powered and advanced developed today – the AK-74. This is the more modern version of the AK-47.

Government Money Reward

Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the theft of assault rifles from the Fort Irwin Army Post.

So far the government has made some progress as one civilian was arrested and one gun has been recovered. But that’s where the trail ends. Perhaps this guy needs to take a little vacation to G-Bay. Maybe then he’ll give up his comrades! This type of theft is especially brazen and worrisome as it shows how vulnerable our military installations are for theft.

One Dragunov rifle and 26 AK-74 rifles were stolen July 15 from a supply warehouse at the national training center midway between Las Vegas and Los Angeles in the high Mojave Desert.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the FBI and the California Department of Justice.
