Do not let that headline mislead you because that was its true intention. Let me very clear about this – David Hasselhoff, the star of such great television shows as “Night Rider” and “Baywatch,” and with a memorable role in the epic children’s classic “The Spongebob Squarepants Movie,” did not steal anything.
His name, however, did come up in a recent news article involving theft. As reported in www.courant.com.
It appears that someone tried to steal some signs from Hasselhoff. One person, attempting to capture the thieves, was evidently, seriously injured and in critical condition after trying to stop the SUV.
The would be hero, described as a 36-year-old man, landed on his head in the store parking lot while trying to get two signs back as the thieves drove away. He is at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut.
We await to see if the prime suspect in the theft of Hasselhoff’s signs, a 19-year-old, gets arrested. So far nothing but if you would like to read more from the star, Hasselhoff posted to his Twitter account about the incident.
According to police, a man got out of a sports utility vehicle and cut the two large signs off a light pole. The signs, which advertise iced coffee, have pictures of the actor and singer and have been targeted by prankster-thieves around the state and beyond.
The man put the signs in the back of the SUV, after which the employee approached and tried to get them back.
The vehicle sped away and the worker was dragged. He then spun around and flipped backwards, landing on his head.
I hope these thieves realize that a simple prank almost cost someone his life. I hope they decide voluntarily to enroll in an internet theft awareness program.
