There was a time when firefighters were paid so little they needed a second job to support their families. For most paid firefighters, that is not the case anymore. Firefighters are not only well-paid, but have excellent benefits and usually work only three days a week. Would you risk that for some petty theft? I sure wouldn’t.
Kevin M. Doherty, was arraigned back in December, 2013 on his second shoplifting charge of the year. As reported in www.itemlive.com.
Making matters worse for the 30-year-old Doherty is that he is the son of Fire Chief Eugene Doherty. The junior Doherty, no relation to Hollywood actress Shannon Doherty, , was arrested for trying to conceal and steal $81.51 worth of merchandise from Target. The items he tried to steal were a GoPro backpack and can of Red Bull energy drink.
It began when store security observed Kevin select a Red Bull Energy Drink and conceal it inside of his jacket pocket. Kevin then proceeded back to the electronics section of the store where he again took the GoPro backpack. He wasn’t too watchful because security watched him removing the spider wrap from the GoPro backpack, discarding the wrapping inside of a binder, and then concealing the GoPro backpack inside of his jacket pocket and proceed through checkout without paying.
Kevin Doherty, a fourth-year firefighter who earned $79,576.62 in 2011, according to city records, was arrested Jan. 12, 2013 for allegedly trying to steal a television and stereo equipment from Walmart.
It is obvious Kevin Doherty has a problem with theft. He needs an impulse control or anti-shoplifting course and counseling.
