It seems like there is not one aspect of society or one class of person where theft or shoplifting cannot be an issue. Rich or poor, black, white or brown it doesn’t make a difference – we all are human and susceptible to vice of stealing.

Beauty Queen Busted!

A former Texas beauty queen has been accused of shoplifting a $69 shirt from a mall store. I guess this is not different that Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Leake stealing five t-shirts.

Of course it is no surprise that Miss El Paso USA 2008 Lorena Tavera denied the theft allegation and said she plans to contact an attorney.

The 21-year-old Tavera was arrested after store employees witnessed her shoplifting and followed her outside the Texas business. Tavera, who allegedly concealed the shirt in a shopping bag, was confronted and detained for police. 

No stranger to troubles with the law, El Paso County Jail records show Tavera also had two outstanding traffic court warrants. She was freed Saturday after posting $728 bond.

Shoplifting is a disease and it's a violation of Texas Shoplifting Laws. It is obvious Tavera has issues. Perhaps this theft was yet another cry for help. Come on people – show some common sense. And maybe Ms. Tavera should take a El Paso, Texas Shoplifting class.
