As a sports fan I always have wondered about the level of corruption in professional and major college sports. I am not talking about professional boxing or even thoroughbred racing, I am talking college bowls and the major American professional sports.

Just last week I read about a ticket manager for the Senior Bowl that was arrested for theft. Not her theft as ticket manager, but another. Perhaps she should have taken a theft class after her first arrest! This as reported in al.com.

The thief is Karen Lister, who pleaded guilty to stealing more than $11,000 while employed as ticket manager of the Senior Bowl in Mobile, has been arrested for using more than $40,000 of a local ministry's money for personal use.

The 44-year-old Lister, who has been using the name Karen Elizabeth Bradley, has been charged with obtaining property under false pretenses, value of $10,000 or more.

This is no kind-hearted Robin Hood story. The organization she stole from, TOTAL Ministries provides for basic needs to assist families who are facing a financial crisis.

It was discovered that Bradley had allocated more than $40,000 in the organization’s money for personal use between February and June.

Lister was previously arrested in 1998 for stealing cash receipts for ticket sales for the Senior Bowl, and manipulation of computer data to defraud. To her credit Lister paid back the stolen funds due to a court order.

Perhaps now she will be mandated to a stop theft class. She obviously has a strong problem and should not be allowed to control any funds for an organization until a Alabama theft class and intensive counseling have been completed.
