There are some really sick people out there. Addiction makes people do really stupid and sick stuff. Fuel a sick person with an addiction and the outcomes can be disastrous. Such is the case of a Washington man who would do just about anything to score prescription medication.
Anything that is except get a job to pay for his prescriptions. So how far would Johnny Lee Jordan go to score drugs? The 39-year-old from Longview, WA, stole a dog and tried to ransom it for prescription drugs. For his efforts Jordan was sentenced to more than three years in prison.
Jordan had pleaded guilty to theft and extortion. Jordan was not acting alone. Both his girlfriend and a friend also are charged with extortion in the case and are due for trial later this month.
They stole a 2-year-old English bulldog named Jagger last October from the yard at the home of Jennifer Thomas. She received a text message demanding her prescription drugs and cash if she wanted her dog back.
The story ends well for no party. Jagger was found dead about three weeks later along railroad tracks.
Sick behavior fueled by drug addiction cost a dog his life, a pet owner years of anguish, and three drug addicts years of their lives. Drugs are evil. And people who steal should consider Washington theft classes.
