Why would any celebrity knowingly publish information that may damage their reputation? The only possible explanation can be self-promotion. In a day-and-age where the likes of Justin Bieber and Snooki Polizzi make their fortunes through self-promotion, it is no wonder that a third-rate celebrity like Tia Tequila would broadcast her arrest for shoplifting on her own blog!

One of the things she is best known for is a domestic violence incident with former San Diego Chargers’ linebacker Shawne Merriman. That case was eventually dropped but kept Ms. Tequila, a former stripper, in the limelight just a little longer.

Her next attempt to self-promote was joining a reality dating show involving both men and women called A Shot at love with Tia Tequila. With her fame fading still she resorted to more drastic measures, shoplifting.

Claiming she was hungry and out of money, she went into her local CVS and stole a bag of chips and bubble gum. She was caught. When no publicity of the event showed up on TMZ she decided to post it herself.

Time will tell if Tequila can carve out a career or will fade away like most other third-tier celebrities.
