Collectibles can be very valuable. Some people even insure their collectibles because they are targets for thieves.

It doesn't take a seasoned criminal to figure that anonymity is key to not getting caught after performing a crime.

One Dumb Thief

In the digital age, not going on Craigslist.com and demanding payment from the owner of the items you just stole is a key to not getting caught.

It would appear a memorabilia thief was applying some ill-advised capitalistic principles, but law enforcement simply calls his actions after the theft criminal.

Robert Kinzinger and Danna Eson are not smart criminals.

They stole dozens of pieces of memorabilia from New York Yankees team dentist Dr. William Strupp.

When the items were stolen from his office, he took matters into his own hands, literally, by posting an ad on Craigslist.com in hopes someone would know where his stolen items were.

Police in Clearwater, Florida said the thieves who stole his prized possessions were ready and willing to cut a deal with the doctor and contacted him through his ad.

Strupp made a plan to meet up with the suspect and give him $10,000 in exchange for the items that were already his.

The plan was, was for Strupp to drive to the meeting place, get out and give his jacket and sunglasses to a police officer, who would then be the guy sitting there with the $10,000 on his lap. It all worked perfect and the near brain-dead culprits were arrested without incident.

Other than the memorabilia, the thieves allegedly stole around $37,000 worth of computer equipment. Detectives were only able to recover around 25 percent of the equipment.

Craigslist is a prime location for thieves to vend their stolen goods. Be careful before purchasing anything on this site. Hopefully these two will take a theft class and get some counseling so they do not cause people and tax payers any more grief.
