As we know shoplifting is a pervasive problem in the U.S. It's pretty much a given that if you're a retail store you have to take some measures to try and prevent shoplifting. But what are the most shoplifted items in the U.S.? Here's the list:
- Meat - No surprise here. If you're going to steal, you might as well steal the most expensive product you can find.
- Razors - Small and expensive. A tempting item for sure.
- Baby Formula - Sad but true. Some people feel they need to steal to feed their children.
- Cosmetics - #1 among items stolen by teens. Also very small and very expensive.
- Alcohol - Another target for young people. Since they can't just buy it, shoplifting it is one of the few ways to get it. Maybe these people need either a MIP class or an alcohol class?
- Laptops - A big ticket item and typically hard to steal but people still take them
- Over the Counter Drugs - This includes everything from antihistamines to pain killers. Again, small, easy to slip into a purse or pocket. Do these people need to take an online drug class?
- Smart Phones - The latest craze. Probably will beat laptops for a shoplifted item for sure. Most stores don't even display working ones.
- Clothing - One of the biggest retail items out there. No surprise here.
