If you read my blogs regularly I like to report that people will steal just about anything, from your pet Fido to your marijuana plants.  Here is a lovely little story out of California.

Four people were arrested following the discovery of stolen medical marijuana plants in a Vacaville motel room in which they were staying.

Vacaville police were dispatched to the scene following reports of someone screaming and vehicle tires squealing. Officers arrived in the area and were flagged down by a man, who told police several medical marijuana plants had been stolen from his backyard. The victim is a medical marijuana patient with all the appropriate paperwork authorizing him to grow and use marijuana for medical reasons.

Weeds by the Pool?

At 3:22 a.m. (why is it always the middle of the night), officers were dispatched to the Motel 6 where a witness had reported finding a large amount of marijuana near the pool. Officers arrived and located marijuana leaves on the ground near the trunk of a vehicle, which was registered to Brianna Crossman, 19, of Vacaville.

Police said officers followed a trail of fresh marijuana leaves on the ground and located two large freshly-cut marijuana plants on the ground near the pool, and determined the plants were left there by subjects staying in one of the rooms at the motel.

The trail of marijuana leaves led officers to Room 222, which had been rented by Crossman, and where police located four people. When the room door was open, officers saw several freshly cut marijuana plants on the bed.

The victim responded to Motel 6 and was able to identify the marijuana plants as belonging to him from string and ribbons he used during the growing process.

All four people in the room were arrested. They included Crossman, Treshawn Rogers 18, Shawn White 19, and Darrius Anderson, 20.

Anderson was on active California Department of Correction parole and lives in the area where the marijuana was stolen. White, was on active Solano County Juvenile probation, according to police.

They were booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, probation violation, parole violation and conspiracy to commit theft.

Some of these kids are getting close to hitting the third strike in California.  Perhaps they should start with getting off the drugs by taking an online drug class.  They can combine this with a nice online stop theft class and maybe they will be able to prevent themselves from spending the rest of their lives behind bars.
