I am not sure if you are aware, but liquor theft by minors has seen a surge in the past couple of years. Why do you think that is? It can be for lack of other stimulants because the shocking number of youth using marijuana and prescription medication is off-the-charts!

The goal to curb this trend is to make alcohol more difficult to steal. The focus must be on kids not having access to unlawful substances. As reported in mynorthwest.com.

In addition to more alcohol thefts, there are increased instances of students being drunk at school and having alcohol on campus.

And these numbers only reflect those who are caught! Most assuredly the vast majority of teen alcohol theft and alcohol’s presence on campus go unnoticed.

What do you think the answer is? States like Virginia only sell hard liquor in specialized stores that only sell alcohol and are run by the state beverage commission.

Do you think selling all alcohol only in these stores would curb teen alcohol use? I definitely think it would.

Teenagers have always had access to alcohol. Though even one teen stealing liquor is too many.

The two ways to curb this trend are to make alcohol much more difficult to obtain and to continue to educate our youth to get them from drinking or stealing in the first place. In-class and online alcohol classes and stop theft classes should be mandatory.
