Is this one of those “Tales From the Darkside”? As a counselor for both in-class and online stop theft classes I hear all kinds of crazy stories involving theft. The following is certainly one of the zaniest.

Vincent Bright was arrested for theft. If you read the headline, you know what he stole. The 48-year-old stole his father's body from a Detroit cemetery with the hope of bringing him back to life. What do you think of that? As reported in news.yahoo.com.

Bright, who was keeping his father's body in the basement freezer of his home, was charged with disinterment of a body.

The crime is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. I know car thieves with multiple offenses that don’t get 10 years!

Clarence Bright's body disappeared from a cemetery, just hours before it was to be buried. Bright and an accomplice were arrested the next day when police found them with an empty casket in the back of their van. Officers were tipped off by other family members.

Bright is an extremely religious man who took the body hoping for it to be miraculously resurrected. His father, Clarence Bright was 93 years old when he died.

I hope Bright gets some help. Does he need a theft class? I am not sure. Religion can make people do crazy things sometimes. What do you think about this? Does Bright deserve to go to jail for this? Is this a waste of taxpayer money to prosecute?
