Should one little indiscretion during college screw up your entire life? Just ask Jessamen Dunker.

Dunker, a red-shirt freshman offensive lineman, was arrested on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and a non-moving traffic violation. As reported in www.usatoday.com.

We learn something new every day. There's grand theft auto. And then there's grand theft scooter. Yep, he was riding a motor scooter.

That in itself was fine, but like many DUIs, Dunker was pulled over for a basic reason – he had no registration tag (same thing just happened to former Minnesota Viking defensive back Fred Smoot).

When pulled over, officers discovered that he was driving on a license that had been suspended.

Oh yeah – here’s the real kicker - the scooter, in fact, was stolen.

The grand theft auto charge is a third-degree felony and the traffic violation is a second-degree misdemeanor.

Dunker said he had paid $600 for the scooter, but had no receipt for the sale.

Dunker is expected to compete for a starting job on the 2013 team, pending the current situation. He redshirted during the 2012 season.

The Gator football program seems to be plagued right now. Florida coach Will Muschamp has had 15 player arrests since arriving in Gainesville in December 2011. Dunker is the sixth in the past year.

Perhaps the University of Florida should mandate drug classes, alcohol classes and theft classes for all members of the sports teams?
