I am a firm believer in practicing what you preach. Who does more preaching than a Catholic priest? The answer is most-likely, no one. Yet somehow one of God’s ministers did the unthinkable – he broke one of the sacred 10 Commandments.

Giuseppe Savaia is a priest at St. Claire's Catholic Church in North Palm Beach, but how long he will be an ordained minister after two separate shoplifting incidents remains to be seen.

Surveillance cameras captured Savaia as he went inside the Neiman Marcus store and stealing a Jay Strongwater picture frame worth $895. This according to wsvn.com.

Five days later, the priest appeared at a different Neiman Marcus store and was caught stealing two Italian-made jackets. He was quite deceptive, layering and draping them over his arm, and began walking aimlessly around the store. After some time, he walked out of the store, jackets in hand.

Savaia was arrested. He later wrote a letter to his parishioners, in which he did not confess to any crime but apologized for the confusion and professed his innocence. Savaia faces two counts of grand theft and has since taken a leave of absence from his parish.

My problems with this are two-fold. First he stole! Second, he lied – trying to profess his innocence. He needs to be mandated to a Florida Shoplifting class and seek counseling himself before he is allowed back in on the pulpit.
