Every day I read outrageous stories about parents neglecting their primary duty – to be a parent! From parents snorting opiates and allowing their infant to dip into their stash to providing alcohol to teens at a party to parents on shoplifting sprees leaving their children behind when they are caught.

Get this one – a mom who ditched her 1-year-old baby and escaped in the midst of an alleged theft at a Wal-Mart was apprehended the next night outside a dance club. Are you kidding me? This child should be taken away and given to an adoptive that will love and nourish it in the manner that will create a healthy child. This as reported in the NY Daily News.

The woman, 20-year-old Allison Niemeyer was arrested along with her sister, Laura Niemeyer, 22, after the pair allegedly tried to steal from the store.

As the scheme went awry, Allison Niemeyer’s son was left behind in shopping cart at the store, and authorities went searching for both women on charges of felony child neglect and retail theft.

I ask this question – was it worth it?

The women had stuffed clothing items into the baby’s diaper bag -- a woman's bathing suit, a package of men’s undershirts and four shirts worth $57.12 -- and hidden a DVD player in the bottom of the cart.

When confronted by a security guard they bolted. Allison Niemeyer took off immediately, leaving the baby in the shopping cart and the pair sped off in their Ford Aerostar.

Would it surprise you that this was not her first theft-related incident? Allison is under house arrest until 2021 for her involvement in a home invasion robbery with a firearm that occurred in 2010 while she was pregnant. A 61-year-old man was pistol-whipped during the break-in.

This is Laura's ninth arrest since 2008 and she has three previous convictions for retail theft and grand theft.

Deplorable behavior by a pair of women who are in dire need of both shoplifting classes and parenting classes. Who just abandons their baby and then goes out to a night club? Maybe Casey Anthony!!!!
