In a true testament that crime doesn’t pay, a 19-year-old college student in Powell, Wyoming was caught stealing a .79 cent donut and ordered to pay a $200 fine.

A Grazer!

Ironically, the student, one Zach O'Dell was at a grocery store on Nov. 28 when he spotted a delicious chocolate glazed donut and could not help himself. Before leaving the store O’Dell had to mow the delicious sugary orb.

A store manager supposedly saw him consume a single doughnut and leave without paying for it.

O'Dell has agreed to pay the $200 fine, $10 in court fees, and 79-cents in restitution.

O'Dell attempted to pay for the doughnut after being contacted by store personnel and claimed that forgetting to pay was simply an oversight. However O’Dell did not have the luck of the Irish. Market owner Brent Foulger defended the charge saying, "paid for is OK; not paid for is shoplifting." The store has a zero tolerance policy regarding theft.

Wow a $210.79 donut! I hope it tasted good. Have you ever noticed someone munching on items in the store before they have paid for them? This is called grazing and is both unsanitary and illegal. A shoplifting and theft class prior to entering the store may have consciously reminded O’Dell that grazing is shoplifting and should not be done!
