We all are feeling the “pain at the pumps” lately. At least most of us are suffering. There are some that had found a way to get free gas. Sound too good to be true? It is!

A gas station in Illinois gave out about $12,000 worth of free gas over a two-week period recently, but it wasn’t part of a promotion, it was because someone tampered with the pumps.

Somehow, the pumps were altered so that gas could be pumped out without the station attendant knowing about it. By the time someone figured out what happened, 2,900 gallons had been pumped for free to the point where the station was completely out of gas.

The news was shocking to drivers trying to fill up on Tuesday.

A woman who worked next door to the station said she thought something was suspicious when she would see the same man coming into the station up to 10 times per day, each time with a different vehicle and always using the same pump!

He even offered to fill up her tank for $20. Instead of taking him up on the offer she alerted the gas station clerk, and the man left.

The positive side to this is that the neighbor made the right choice. The sad part is the culprit, sans Illinois gas theft class, is still out there and could steal again
