When all you want to do is shoplift so you can go back to jail you know you have a problem. Shoplifting is not only a crime, but for some it is an illness. Such is the case for one Pennsylvania man.

Douglas DePugh already has spent almost 20 years of his life behind the walls of a prison. As reported in www.mcall.com.

Released from a state penitentiary just this past April, it was only a matter of weeks before the man with 13 shoplifting convictions went back to doing what he knows: stealing.

The 43-year-old DePugh claimed, he hit rock bottom and was completely out of his mind after a three-day binge of cocaine, a bag of heroin and a half bottle of vodka, that he went into a local pharmacy and robbed them!.

He did not get any money from the clerk.

Six days later he stole steaks and shrimp from a local grocery store.

Now he is pleading for his life. He wants to take an alcohol class. He wants to take a Pennsylvania theft class. He wants to take a drug class. Will the court show mercy for this serial thief?

DePugh admits he is much better at functioning behind bars than as a free man. He admits he is totally beaten down and does not even have it in him to stay free. Is there hope left for this man?

What do you think of this?
