I could write a blog entry every week about a parent who is shirking their job and taking their kids shoplifting. Here are two stories I read about in the same day!

A mother used her 10-year-old daughter in a shoplifting attempt at a grocery store in California. The thief, 38-year-old Marcy Keelin and her daughter shopped together at the store, and after entirely filling the cart, Keelin instructed her daughter to wait by the door for her to come by in the car. As the young girl attempted to bring the items to the car, the store’s staff intercepted her. Keelin allegedly saw this and immediately fled, leaving her daughter behind. As reported in www.imperfectparent.com.

As of three days after the theft, authorities still have not been able to track down, who relatives say is traveling with her 11-month-old son. She was finally located in a motel in Fernley, Nevada with her son and a male companion, apparently on the run to Wyoming.

No mother of the year award for her!

Pregnant Mom Forces Kids to Steal

In the same day as the above story happened, a similar incident happened in Atlanta, Georgia where Lakesha Michelle Gilchrist, 39 weeks pregnant, told her two daughters to help her shoplift nearly $1,600 from Wal-.

After she delivers the baby, the 38-year-old Gilchrist will be arrested on a felony shoplifting charge and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Gilchrist didn’t act alone, police said. She brought her daughters, ages 15 and 10, into the store and encouraged them both to help steal merchandise, according to police.

What is happening in America with parenting? Do we need to make people take a class before they have kids? The message from our parents should be clear – do not steal!
