Life is all about choices. Every day we make over 1,000 independent decisions. Most of these are involuntary and good. Some are voluntary and good. Others are poor, some very poor.

A 29-year-old shoplifting suspect made matters so much worse for herself when she tried to steal a Prichard police patrol car. She was stopped by officers who actually fired shots in her direction before she gave up. She only gave up after driving the cop mobile into a ditch. This as reported in al.com.

Tasha Maryellen Johnson was charged 12 times, including three counts of probation revocation, two counts of third-degree theft of property, first-degree theft of property, second-degree assault and a number of traffic warrants.

This whole fiasco began at a Dollar general store for crying out loud!

The item she tried to steal – batteries. She was arrested, handcuffed and put in the patrol car. She managed to get her arms from behind her to in front of her and jumped into the driver's seat of the police car.

It again comes as no surprise that this was not Johnson’s first offense. She has a criminal record dating back to 2005 with charges that include harassing communication, theft, drug and domestic violence charges.

I hope the judge orders her to a shoplifting class and places her on a long parole. She certainly needs constant monitoring if she is going to become a productive member of society.
