We all hear about the vicious attacks by the pirates around Somalia. But what about those stealing our data every day? Once the hot item, now cyber-theft has been relegated to the blogs of a counselor for a stop theft class.

A good deal of the world’s “cyber-theft” occurs from China. Now The White House is getting involved calling for serious steps by China to stop cyber-theft, which it described as intolerable to the international community. As reported in www.washingtonpost.com.

How could this have taken so long? China has been pillaging the “cyber community” for more than a decade.

The US government wants China to take serious steps to investigate and put a stop to these activities and recognize the risk it poses to international trade and to U.S.-China relations. Do you think this is an idle threat?

Perhaps with the change in leadership in China cyber-theft will stop. I think not. We’ll have to wait and see if Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, due to be anointed as China’s new president this week, makes an effort to work with the US.

Things sure didn’t work out that with the change of leadership in North Korea.

So far, the Chinese government denied being involved in cyber-theft, and contended that its country has also been a victim of hacking, much of it traced to the United States. I do not believe them for a second.

I would like to see the new regime implement mandatory stop theft classes for all government officials. Do you think that is a joke?
