What is it with thieves trying to load up their pants with pilfered merchandise and walk out of the store? On the same day I read about two dunderheads who were arrested for attempting to steal and concealing the merchandise in their pants.

Why do I call them dunderheads? I am glad you asked. The proof is what they tried to conceal! As reported in latimesblogs.latimes.com.

In Gainesville, Florida a man was unsuccessful in an attempt to shoplift a 24-inch chainsaw bar from Lowe's. He tried to steal it by hiding it in his pants. When confronted he started swinging and kicking at Lowe's employees.

The thief, 27 year old Phillip Ray Nix, roamed the home improvement store before purchasing a soft drink and heading out the door.

But the store security guard had no problem detecting the theft of the $60 Husqvarna model 460 chainsaw rancher bar. Nix was arrested and booked on simple assault and misdemeanor theft by shoplifting charges. Hopefully he will be mandated to a good stop theft class and will pay for all items in the future.

If that wasn’t strange enough what do you think the following thief tried to stuff in his pants?

Jorge Sanchez, a 35-year-old from Burbank, was arrested after trying to flee Costco with 24 quarts of oil stuffed in his clothes and strapped to his body.

The store’s loss prevention officers chased him on foot, until Sanchez hopped over the chain-link fence. Several quarts of oil that allegedly fell out of Sanchez’s clothing during the foot chase were recovered by store employees.

When arrested, police officers discovered several Bungee cords wrapped around both of Sanchez's legs and his waist.

I hope he too is mandated to a good online shoplifting class.
