As a kid my friends and I used to steal from Toys R Us. We would steal big packs of gum or baseball cards. That type of petty thievery can lead to a life of crime. For the following mother-son duo their theft from Toys R Us will leave them behind bars for quite some time.

You want to talk about a major theft spree from Toys R Us? Well, here you go. An elderly Florida mother and her son have been arrested on charges of stealing more than $2 million in toys and other merchandise in an alleged scam that included 139 Toys R Us stores and other stores in 27 states. As reported in content.usatoday.com.

Michael Pollara, 46, and his 70-year-old mother, Margaret Pollara, were charged with stealing merchandise from 31 Toy R Us stores in Florida alone.

Box Stuffing

The pair would shoplift using the "box stuffing" method that involves emptying the box of a cheaper item in the store and filling it with more expensive goods.

They would then pay the box's lower sticker price at checkout.

The duo worked in tandem with the son usually switching the toys while his mother acted as a lookout. The goods were then sold online.

At the time of the arrest, Pollara had more than $900,000 in eBay and PayPal accounts.

A Rewards Program That Takes Away Too!

Authorities said they were able to track the son's movements across the country because he used a Toys R Us rewards card for his purchases.

One of Pollara’s favored thefts was emptying a "Big Adventure Raceway" box and filling it up with high-priced goods like software or LEGO items.

The son has a long history with theft, having stolen from retailers like Target and Walmart for a decade, raking in an estimated million dollars.

A simple 8 hour theft and shoplifting class is a good start for these two. Obviously their crimes show a deeper, more spiritual corruption that will require years of counseling.
